Extend Your Love
The season we are in from January to March is called Burran. Typically hot and dry where we see the Weetjellan (broad leaf wattle) blooming, male kangaroos being aggressive, and eating meat is forbidden in traditional first nations culture.
It is a time to practise love, caring for the land and resources, ensuring there is plenty of food to nurture all in the coming months in the circle of life, knowing that we are a part of nature and the eco-system.
With Valentine's Day coming up, how about we extend our love for the natural world around us. Create habitat for wildlife, get rid of that lawn and plant some natives, care for your native visitors with a large bowl of water on hot days or start a food garden of your own.
Soak up those loving vibes by connecting with nature and top up your cup of self love. Tell us how you connect with nature and feel the love in our Facebook group Bright Bods!

This is a deliciously simple protein containing pumpkin dip. Make sure you have a good quality blender for a smooth result.
Ingredients
- 1/2 pumpkin
- 1 clove garlic or more if you like garlic
- 1 x 2cm sprig of fresh rosemary
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 x 1/4 cups water
Method
- Set oven for 180 degrees Celcius.
- Chop up the pumpkin in large pieces.
- Place the pumpkin, pumpkin seeds and garlic cloves in a baking dish.
- Drizzle with oil and mix.
- Add 1/4 cup of water to the dish and bake for 1 hour or until the pumpkin is soft.
- When cooked, if you do not want the skin on the pumpkin you can slice it off.
- Squeeze the garlic out of its skin and add all ingredients: pumpkin and seeds, rosemary, salt and pepper to the blender. Add 1/4 cup of water to the blender and blend. Add more water if you need to achieve a good blend.
- Serve warm or cold with crackers or vegetable sticks or top on toast for breakfast.
